Popular social networking sites like Facebook, orkut etc. have already found success in providing social gaming platform to its visitors. Games like Farmville, Mafiawars, Yoville, Poker etc. has already created a stir and has adapted well in the visitors mind. Its addicting which is what makes the visitors keep coming back for more. But can Google have social games on its video based site YouTube? Will it give this site an edge over others towards its advancement? This is a question revolving around the internet after Google filed a patent application earlier this year and published this month, which focuses on its videos being more geared towards gaming , as in the videos are known to be more interactive which would be based on games.
According to Bnet, the text which displays at certain locations at certain time will be displaying something like a graphical text box annotations which simple means it would be interactive. Till date, YouTube spotted annotations that were static with ordinary text box and there was nothing fascinating about it. To change this they might include invisible annotations which would make it feature rich enabling it to control playback, pause and also linking to specific portions of videos totally based on the visitors action.
YouTube has plans for adding social gaming to its site or they would not have filed for the application in February,2009. This being said, since the games would be videos based, you may not want to expect games like Farmville or Poker but interactive games based on testing users skills in the form of videos, like a quiz games which will allow a visitor to proceed if the answer was correct. This was just an example, as I sure believe they have dramatic and constructive plans for adding these games in the future which would enhance the user experience.
