WooCommerce development

WooCommerce built the way your shop actually trades.

Custom WooCommerce development from the team that runs high-volume stores of its own. Mostly that means adding the missing piece to a store you already have: a product type, a pricing rule, a shipping method, a feed or an integration, built as a proper plugin from £250 + VAT.

Why WooCommerce, done properly

The most flexible shop platform there is, if someone builds it right

WooCommerce runs a third of the world’s online shops because it can be shaped to almost any business. The catch is that “can be” means someone has to do it: most stores are a pile of plugins that nearly fit, fighting each other on every update.

We write the parts that should be native: product types with their own rules, pricing that reflects how you actually sell, shipping that matches how you actually ship, and connections to the systems around the shop. We also host and maintain WooCommerce stores every day, so what we build is built to stay working.

Native, not bolted on. Custom code written into WooCommerce’s own hooks and data model, so it survives updates.

Proven under load. Our competition engine allocates thousands of tickets a minute without a double sale.

Fewer plugins, faster store. We replace plugin stacks with one purpose-built module more often than we add to them.

Hosted and looked after. UK servers we run, monitoring, backups and a person who knows your store.

What we build

Six things stores ask us for most

Every store is different, but the work clusters into these. Several usually arrive together.

01

Custom product types

Configurable products, made-to-order items, competitions, bookings and bundles with their own rules and admin screens.

02

Pricing and checkout logic

Trade pricing, tiered and quantity pricing, deposits, fees and taxes, express and gift checkouts, enquiry-list flows for unpriced items.

03

Shipping and fulfilment

Pallet, zone and weight-based shipping methods, courier integrations, dispatch rules and branded transactional emails.

04

Feeds and marketplaces

Google Merchant Centre and marketplace feeds that maintain themselves, with category mapping and shipping estimates.

05

Integrations

Stock, accounts, CRM, ERP and supplier systems talking to the store in both directions, with logging and retries.

06

Performance and rescue

Slow admin, broken checkouts, plugin conflicts and hacked stores diagnosed and fixed, then hardened.

WooCommerce work that trades every day

Industrial equipment

Spare parts enquiries, pallet shipping and shopping feeds

An equipment retailer sold priced products and unpriced spare parts side by side, shipped by the pallet, and wanted to be in Google Shopping without hand-maintaining a feed.

Three plugins working together: spare-parts products that switch to an enquiry-list flow with managed enquiries and branded emails; a pallet shipping method that calculates by pallet spaces, postcode zone and a rate table; and a Google Merchant Centre feed with weight-based shipping estimates, brand surcharges and automatic category mapping.

  • Enquiry-list checkout for unpriced parts
  • Pallet-space shipping by postcode zone
  • Merchant Centre feed that maintains itself
  • All native WooCommerce, no marketplace fees
Prize competitions

A provably fair competition and prize-draw engine

A competition business needed to sell tickets at volume - thousands in minutes - with instant wins, site credit and draws that customers could verify, without relying on a third-party plugin that could vanish.

A WooCommerce competition product type with its own database schema: pre-generated, cryptographically shuffled ticket pools; atomic allocation that is safe under concurrent purchases and payment webhooks; per-customer limits enforced at cart and allocation; instant wins, wallet credits, audit logging and provably fair draws.

  • Atomic ticket allocation safe under heavy concurrent load
  • Instant wins and site credit wallets
  • Provably fair draws customers can check
  • Full audit trail for compliance
Automotive retail

A private number plate search and checkout platform

A registration retailer needed customers to search tens of millions of DVLA registrations, see live pricing and buy or gift a plate in one flow, with the legal paperwork handled behind the scenes.

A search API and database layer holding 72 million records, live vehicle lookups, a pricing engine with service fees and transfer charges, gift and express checkout, and a pre-owned marketplace, all inside WooCommerce with branded transactional emails.

  • 72-million-record search that answers in milliseconds
  • DVLA fee, VAT and transfer handling built into checkout
  • Gift purchases and express checkout without leaving the page
  • Customer account area for transfers and documents
Ecommerce operations

Store tooling: filtering, search insight and spam control

Busy WooCommerce stores were leaning on heavy third-party plugins for filtering, had no idea what customers searched for, and were drowning in fake sign-ups.

A fast, SEO-friendly AJAX product filter built as a drop-in replacement for a bloated commercial plugin; a search logger that tracks terms and trends and lets the store redirect searches to the right page; and a spam-management tool that scores accounts and bulk-cleans fake customers while protecting real ones.

  • Filter pages that rank and load fast
  • Search trends turned into redirects and content
  • Spam scoring across IP, domain and behaviour
  • Lighter than the plugins they replaced
How it’s priced

Features and fixes are priced as features and fixes, not as websites

Get a fixed quote →

A site that nearly does what you need does not need a new site; it needs the missing piece written properly. We price that piece, and we keep whole rebuilds as a separate, clearly larger job.

Plugin and functionality work

£250 + VAT
Most custom development is a piece of functionality added to a site or store you already have: a custom product type, a pricing rule, a shipping method, a feed, an integration, a fix. Quoted fixed from a short description; the larger or more complex the plugin, the larger the price.

What moves the price

  • How many parts of the store it touches
  • Whether it needs its own admin screens or data
  • Integrations with systems outside the site
  • Testing on a staging copy of your store
  • Ongoing care so it moves with WooCommerce

A whole new site or store

£1,500 + VAT
Building or rebuilding a complete website or store is a different job: design, content, checkout, hosting and the functionality above, together. Quoted as a bespoke build from your brief; ecommerce from £2,500.

Not sure which you need? Describe what the store should do that it does not do today; we will tell you whether it is a feature or a rebuild, and price it either way.

Straight answers

WooCommerce Development, answered

Do you take over existing WooCommerce stores?

Yes, most of our WooCommerce work is on stores someone else built. We start with a review of the theme, plugins and hosting, fix what is urgent, and then agree what to rebuild and what to leave alone.

Will custom code break when WooCommerce updates?

Not if it is written properly. We build against WooCommerce’s public hooks and data structures, declare HPOS compatibility, test updates on a staging copy first, and keep the code under a care plan so it moves with the platform.

Can you make WooCommerce faster?

Usually a great deal. Most slow stores are carrying plugins that duplicate each other, un-optimised images and shared hosting. We measure first, then fix the causes rather than adding a caching plugin on top.

Do you build competition and prize-draw stores?

Yes; we wrote our own engine for it, with atomic ticket allocation, instant wins, wallets and provably fair draws, because the available plugins could not be trusted at volume.

Can you connect WooCommerce to our accounts or stock system?

That is a large part of what we do. Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, stock and ERP systems, courier APIs and supplier feeds, with proper error handling so a failed sync is noticed, not silent.

How much does WooCommerce development cost?

Most of it is plugin-type work on a store you already have, and that starts at £250 + VAT: a small feature or fix sits near the start, and the price rises with the size and complexity of the plugin. A complete new store is a different job, quoted as a bespoke build from £2,500 + VAT. Either way the price is fixed in writing before we start.
