A migration done right is invisible to Google
The horror stories you’ve heard, rankings halved after a replatform, almost always trace to the same mistakes: URLs changed without redirects, pages quietly dropped, metadata lost in transfer. Google follows signposts; remove them and you vanish.
Our migrations begin with a full crawl of the old site: every URL, title and ranking recorded. That inventory becomes the redirect map, one-to-one, old address to new, no lazy catch-alls to the homepage.
After cutover we monitor Search Console daily for the settling period, catching crawl errors while they’re trivia rather than trends. Builder platforms like Wix bring extra quirks, their URL structures don’t map cleanly, which is precisely why the mapping is done by hand.
The result, done properly: a dip measured in days, then rankings that recover and typically improve, because WordPress gives us SEO control the builder never did.

Migration questions
How long does a migration take?
Simple brochure sites: one to two weeks including testing. Ecommerce with customers and order history: longer, planned around your trading calendar. The cutover itself is minutes at a quiet hour, whatever the size.
Will our email be affected?
No, and this is the one everyone worries about, rightly. Mail records are inventoried before anything changes and carried over exactly. Your email doesn’t blink.
Wix says we can’t export our site. Is that true?
You can’t export it as a working site, that’s the lock-in. But content, pages, images, text, products, can be extracted and rebuilt properly in WordPress, usually better structured than the builder allowed.
What happens to the old site if something goes wrong?
It stays untouched until the new site is verified live and healthy, and the DNS switch is reversible in minutes. There is no burn-the-boats moment in our process.
Do you host the site after the move?
If you’d like: fast UK business hosting with the care plan option, one supplier for the lot. If you have hosting you love, we’ll happily migrate onto it instead.
How much does it cost to migrate a WordPress site?
Every website, hosting environment and provider is different, so we quote individually based on what we see and the information you provide. Straight host-to-host moves are modest; CMS-to-WordPress rebuilds are quoted as a redesign project.
Do I need to back up my website before migration?
We take care of backups and data transfer, but we always recommend keeping a backup yourself too. However careful we are, we can’t predict the reliability of your current provider, so we take backups to be sure and like you to as well.
Should my website be live to be migrated?
It certainly helps, but if you have backups or any kind of history we can usually recover or rebuild as close to the original as you want.
How do you handle broken links or missing pages after the move?
We map every URL beforehand and set up 301 redirects wherever needed, so there are no broken links and your rankings are preserved.
Can I keep my current design after migrating?
Yes. We can replicate your existing design or take the opportunity to refresh the look while keeping your brand identity intact.
What if my website has custom functionality?
We handle custom features during the migration and test them thoroughly, so every bespoke element works flawlessly on the new WordPress platform.
